2009 / 2010 Season Results
WAA Result for sat 6th Feb
2010
Fished on Wsey Dyke at the disable
platforms where a good attendance for the Peter Kirlew Memorial Trophy saw a
good day sport with small fish which is fitting tribute to Peter who was a well
known local match man who would usually have a good net of small fish at the
final whistle.
With this week winning catch going to
Simon Godfrey with 197 small roach and rudd taken on the pole with pinkie over
ground bait for a weight of 9lb 15oz.
Closely followed with 199 slightly
smaller roach again on the pole with pinkie over ground was John Hudson with 8lb
9oz and filling the third spot was Paul Wright on the same method with 7lb 13oz.
WAA Result for Sat 30th
Jan 2010
Fished at the Carrot wash where the water
has started to fine down but had no flow in bright but cold conditions.
Out in front again was small fish expert
Paul Wright fishing the pole with pinkie over ground bait taking the better
stamp roach for an all small fish weight of 5lb 7oz.
Closely followed by Terry Tribe with 5lb
dead, with the match just fifteen minutes old when he hooked into a 2.8lb Perch
on his light rig using a 24 hook and single pinkie and then with another 2.8lb
of small roach on the pole and pinkie.
Third place went to Dave Jarrett with an
all small fish catch of 2lb 15oz using pole and pinkie over ground bait tactics.
WAA Result for Sat 23rd
Jan 2010
With heavy rain through the week making
the Carrot Wash nearly unfishable a late change of venue to the poplar W,sey
Dyke was required to give all the anglers any real chance of fish.
With a good turn out and all of the
section being used there was going to be plenty of fish in the nets by the final
whistle and this proved the correct decision to change venues.
Out in front again was John Hudson & Paul
Wright with the scales level at 11lb 11oz for joint first place with all small
fish catch being caught on pinkie over ground bait closely Terry Tribe on 10lb
11oz again all small fish taken on the pinkie over ground bait approach.
WAA Result for Sat 16th
Jan 2010
Fished on W,sey Dyke at the disabled
platforms with coloured flowing water but higher levels than previous weeks.
Fished in cold heavy rain and a side wind.
With the positions changed with Andy
Lawrence on the end peg and John Hudson on the next peg the result was the same
with John Hudson running out an outright winner with an all Roach catch caught
on the pole with Pinkie over ground bait with 8lb 14oz
Then Andy Lawrence with an all Roach
catch of 6lb 8oz caught on the pole with pinkie over ground bait.
Third place was a fight to the whistle
for Dave Jarrett and Dave White who draw level with and all roach catch of 6lb
1oz all caught on the pole with pinkie over ground bait.
WAA Result for Sat 9th Jan
2010
Fished at the Disabled pegs on W,sey
Dyke.
Fished in sub zero temperatures and with
a lot of hard work from the anglers who had to break ice before any attempt at
fishing the venue was made.
The breaking of the ice before the start
did not stop there as the holes being fished kept freezing over and the ice had
to be cleared throughout the match along with iced up lines and floats but their
determination paid off.
With the first two places going to the
anglers who caught from the off and the rest of the field having to wait a
little longer for the bites to arrive and then it was not consistent so with 174
small fish caught using the pole and pinkie over ground bait on the end peg was
John Hudson who was a clear winner for a winning weight of 6lb 8oz.
Followed up by Andy Lawrence who had made
the trip from Upwell worthwhile to finish second with a catch of small fish to
weigh in at 5lb 4oz caught on the pole with pinkie over ground bait followed by
Dave White in third place with 3lb 5oz again using the same tactics at the
leaders but having a better stamp of fish.
WAA Result for Sat 2nd Jan
2010
Fished at the Carrot Wash in mixed
weathers bright and sunny, snow storm and heavy rain but all of this makes for
winter fishing and with the coloured water and very little flow the early
conditions looked good.
It was going to be an all small fish
match but that changed once Dave Jarrett the winner of the Martin Brewer Trophy
caught a Tench on his pinkie rig and gingerly played it into his landing net to
take the spoils. With the Tench weighing 4lb and this giving him a total of 5lb
6oz.
Second place went to Paul Wright with an
all small fish weight of 2lb 5oz on the pole with pinkie over ground bait and
finishing third was John Hudson with 1lb 15oz of small fish using pinkie over
ground bait.
WAA Result for Sat 19th
Dec 2009
Due to the cold weather there was only one bite
and there were no fish caught
WAA Result for Sat 12th
Dec 2009
Fished at the carrot wash in good
conditions sunny / overcast and coloured water and a breeze putting a ripple on
the water, cold overnight making bites hard to come by at the start and lots of
small fish being caught throughout the match length.
With two decent Tench on the worm line
winner Dave White had 8lb 3oz and included 1lb 8oz of roach on the whip with
pinkie over ground bait.
Running in second place was the small
fish man Simon Godfrey with 200 small roach on the pole for a total of 4lb 9oz,
third place went to Paul Wright with 3lb 10oz of small roach on the pole with
pinkie over ground bait.
WAA Result for Sat 5th Dec
2009
Fished in near perfect conditions on
W,sey Dyke
Where again the small fish men proved
their team worth where a matched pair shared the honours even with 7lb 2oz of
small fish taken on the pole with pinkie over ground bait were Simon Godfrey and
John Taylor.
Third place went to a close scales call
of 7lb 1oz for John Hudson
WAA Result for Sat 28th
Nov 2009
Fished at the Carrot Wash in very clear
water and a strong side wind and near frost conditions over night.
With these conditions making bait
presentation difficult for the small fish and with the catch recorded lower than
the previous match. It was the big fish that make the weight look more
respectable on the end peg Paul Wright came out on top with one Tench to 3.8lbon
pinkie and the rest small fish to finish one ounce clear with 7lb 15oz, this
closely followed on the next peg Chris Bishop with two Tench to 3lb on the worm
and a few small fish to finish with 7lb 14oz these two clear of the field, on
the opposite end of the match length the 3rd place went to Dave
Jarrett with 3lb 5oz all small fish and a bonus Perch to 12oz.
WAA Result for Sat 21st
Nov 2009
Fished on W,sey Dyke in near perfect
conditions and again the small fish experts worked hard all through to maintain
a constant catch rate throughout the match.
Out in front again was Simon Godfrey with
8lb 12oz of roach and rudd on the pole with pinkie over ground bait.
Second place went to Paul Wright with 7lb
2oz who started slowly with pinkie on the pole over ground bait with an all
small fish catch.
Third place went to John Hudson with 5lb
7oz on the end peg with the same methods for an all small fish catch.
WAA Result for Sat 14th
Nov 2009
Fished on Bevills Leam at the Carrot Wash
With clear water and no flow until it
rained then the water raced through and the strong wind blowing down the drain
along with torrential rain made fishing all most impossible.
However Simon Godfrey had done the
business before the worst of the weather arrived with 7lb 4oz mostly roach and
rudd on the pole and included two decent bonus Perch on the worm line.
2nd place went to Andy
Lawrence with an all small fish catch of 4lb 12oz on the pole with pinkie over
ground bait.
3rd place went to Dave Marzell
on the far end of the match length with 3lb 2oz most roach and rudd and a bonus
Perch on the worm

small fish expert Simon Godfrey with 1lb 4oz all taken on the pole with pinkie
over ground bait.
